The Bioderma Dupe- Believe The Hype!

So most people are familiar with the Bioderma H2O Micelle Solution. It’s works great as a gentle make up remover or a toner or whatever you want to use it for really. You can buy it online, I was getting mine from Escentual but it is also available on Amazon as well as most French pharmacies and some Boots stores I think. On Escentual it ranges from £4.50- £18.40 and if you’re going to be using it everyday then your probably going to want the largest size. It does a good job and removing both face and eye make up and makes a nice transition to proper make up removal if you’re a bit of a makeup wipe fiend as I was once upon a time.

However it isn’t the easiest thing to get hold of and if you order online you need to wait for it to arrive and pay postage and blah blah. So I decided to try the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water which, as far as I can tell is the same thing (even the packaging is v. similar) but for the more handsome sum of £3.99 for 400ml. I know there are a few other Bioderma dupes out there that don’t really cut the mustard but this one really does. It does the same job just as well, it feels the same on the skin, it even smells the same. Whats not to like?!

It’s available at Boots online and in store and of course if you’ve got an Advantage Card you bag yourself 399 points. Back of the net!

Flip Reverse It- Believe The Hype!

Yes, that’s right, there are 1.5 song titles in the title of this blog. The first is by the tracksuit wearing, rain drop haired Blazin’ Squad and the half is, of course by everyone’s favourite gang of skallywags, Public Enemy. It’s only a half cause obvi. the actual title is Don’t Believe The Hype but the 2 tips I’m about to let you in on do actually deliver so BELIEVE IT PEOPLE!

Tip one comes form the utter G that is Wayne Goss. If you don’t know, get to know because this guy is full of honest reviews and game changing make up tips, one of which is just quite something and I real think everyone needs to try it out and see for themsleves. So, the next time you do your make up do it like this:

  • Moisturise as normal
  • Then use primer and/ or any serums
  • Then use POWDER be it tinted or translucent or whatevaa
  • THEN apply foundation or tinted moisturiser or BB cream or whatever the hell you’re using with your hands or a brush or a blender blah blah blah

Yes y’all, you heard me right, powder BEFORE your foundation! It sounds crazy, sure but believe me you will never go back, even if you have dry skin. If you have oily skin (like moi) you may need a slight dusting of powder again to finish. Applying the powder first creates this beautiful matte base so that foundation doesn’t sink into the skin too much (but it doesn’t just sit on top either, don’t worry) so not only do you need less but also it lasts longer! I can’t explain it, it just works. Well it has for me anyway and judging by Twitter, countless others too. Just try it.

The second tip is the reverse shampoo. You’ve probably read about it somewhere or other, it has had a bit of a buzz so I decided to try it myself. The idea is that when you get in the shower you condition your hair first, leave it in, go about your other business and then shampoo as the final step. Weird, I know. But appaz doing it this way round means that while your hair is still getting all the good nourishing shizz form the conditioner, washing it out with shampoo means it doesn’t leave behind any dulling residue which makes hair limp and lackluster. Also if you use conditioner on your scalp (which I was always told you should never do so have always avoided) washing it out with shampoo technically means it won’t get greasy as quickly and will leave you with more volume as there’s is nothing weighing it down. Sounds miraculous no?
Due to the long life beef I have with my curly, frizzy barnet I’ll try anything. I have to say, it’s pretty good. I didn’t personally see a change in the volume or body of my hair but I think it’s because I skip conditioning my scalp. I’m not too fussed as, as much as I wish I could rock it, big hair doesn’t look that great on me for some reason. Maybe because I’ve got a pretty sizable head already… anyway what I did notice was that my hair felt SQUEAKY clean after shampooing and it dried faster too. After blow drying my hair was noticeably less frizzy and softer and straightening even took less time. It feels glossier and more lightweight, I’ve had a few people commenting in how good it looks and asking if I’ve had it done. I will totally be washing my hair this way from now on! It feels kind of weird putting conditioner onto dirty hair the first time you do it but I got over it my the second time and am really happy with the results.
